I’m glad you’re here!

Meet Kathy

I am an editor, proofreader, and writing coach based in Charlotte, North Carolina. A native Texan, I began my editing career back in the fourth grade when I launched a school newspaper and made myself editor-in-chief. I hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Northwestern University and spent many years working as a staff writer and editor in the magazine industry. I’ve been an independent copyeditor and proofreader for fifteen years.

Currently, I copyedit books in a wide range of genres—from humor and spirituality to memoir and fiction. I particularly love partnering with authors who are self-publishing and enjoy helping them prepare their manuscripts for publication. I offer extensive experience, an exceptional eye for detail, deep knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style (the gold standard for books), and unwavering dedication so each client can publish their book with confidence.

Beyond my professional preoccupation with grammar, punctuation, and spelling, I am a married mom of three teenage sons. I love the library, a freshly sharpened pencil, and a hot cup of coffee (or two or three). Memberships include the Editorial Freelancers Association, the Christian PEN, and SCBWI.
